I believe that your party represents the best hope for some dissenting voices to be heard in the political arena about these ludicrous proposals.

Edward SmithAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11862686.post-1157850193646185402006-09-10T02:03:00.000+01:002006-09-10T02:03:00.000+01:00Pleasing to see such an informed and rational deba...Pleasing to see such an informed and rational debate on the subject; I sometimes wonder about where this nation is headed when such ignorant and emotive legislation is being proposed. In my view, it is neither just nor warranted to be threatening people who view fictional depictions of violence with imprisonment. I also note that 71% of individual respondents to the HO consultation were opposed to the proposals, yet this has apparently been ignored. How can you introduce criminal law such as this, without community support?

Edward Smith (Cambs)Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11862686.post-1157815078410831582006-09-09T16:17:00.000+01:002006-09-09T16:17:00.000+01:00Thank you for bringing this issue up again. You say...Thank you for bringing this issue up again.

You say "What they really need is to be able to convert someone like Melanie Phillips to understand the logic of her alleged libertarianism, and bring the rest of the Daily Mail with her." and that's true, however at least someone from the Daily Mail has grasped the idea that just because it's something *he* doesn't like, doesn't mean that the rest of us should be banned from seeing it.

See http://www.backlash-uk.org.uk/utley.html

The more people we can get to understand that looking is not the same as doing (or even *wanting* to do), the better.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
