Are you a conservative or a liberal?
A conservative lives by the motto, “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.”
A liberal believes the future should always be better than the present or past.

I read once, I think it was in a Roger Scruton tome, that the difference was that a conservative would not permit something until it had been shown to be of no harm to anyone, whereas a liberal would permit anything unless it could be shown it was of harm to someone.
That's a vote for GM crops then :)
Rather a biased depiction, I would say. And neither of them are mutually exclusive concepts.
A liberal is someone who acts as if we the people are not paying enough tax and should be happy to pay more so they can spend more since they know how to spend our money better than we do.
