Absolutely Not.

According to readers of NME.com - Oasis's 1994 Definitely Maybe is the best album of all time. Twelve years on, and people still rate it... so much for my Whiggish belief in progress.

Almost as depressing as John Lennon's Imagine regularly topping the polls of best single ever, despite being perhaps the most gut-churning, vomit-inducing, soul-destroying paean to pretentiousness ever recorded.

Glad I got that off my chest.

The success of Oasis caused British pop to regress by decades. We have them to blame for Shed Seven, Ocean Colour Scene and dozens of others. We're still seeing the fallout today.

Noel and Liam Gallacher have much to answer for.

It probably has something to do with the demographic of NME.com, but it is sickening...

Of course, I view any attempt at producing a 'best ever' as fatally flawed, it simply shows the most popular amongst that constituency...
